Sigiriya

Sigiriya is a 5th-century rock fortress that rises dramatically from the surrounding jungle. The climb takes you past ancient frescoes, the Mirror Wall with its centuries-old graffiti and the Lion’s Stairway to the summit palace ruins. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Sri Lanka’s most famous sights.

The area around it offers much more, including the hike up Pidurangala Rock for a view of Sigiriya itself, village visits, boat rides and elephant sightings at Minneriya National Park.
