About Ratnapura
Ratnapura, whose name means “City of Gems”, is Sri Lanka’s centre of gem mining. Visitors can see traditional gem pits, learn how stones are washed and graded, and visit the local gem museum.
It also serves as a gateway to the Sinharaja rainforest and to the hill country around Adam’s Peak.
